Professor David Cay Johnston will speak in Assumption's living room on "Inequality & the Role of Government." Johnston has studied inequality for decades; his published works show how government policy benefits the richest among us through tax favors, hidden subsidies and regulations that favor the biggest businesses over small businesses and consumers. Johnston received the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for his reporting on tax inequities in the New York Times. He is the best selling author of trilogy on the economy - Perfectly Legal, Free Lunch and the Fine Print. An anthology on inequality, Divided: The Perils of Our Growing Inequality will be published this Fall. Johnston is a columnist for Tax Analysts & the Columbia Journalism Review and teaches at Syracuse University College of Law.
