Every year in October, the Church in the U.S. celebrates Respect Life Month, during which we are challenged to look at how we cherish, protect and defend the most precious gift from God: the gift of life, because every life comes from God, has been created in God's own image, and has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ The U.S. Bishops have provided us with material on many Respect Life topics on which to reflect, to possibly spur us on to action, and to even apply them to our own life and circumstances. Through October, Deacon Ron’s bulletin column will present some of those topics, and you can find all of the topics and other Respect Life material at https://www.respectlife.org/october
U.S. Catholic Conference Bishop's Pastoral Letter Against Racism—Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love This October we invite insightful speakers to engage us in conversation about our US Bishops’ important pastoral letter against racism. Plan to attend all six sessions: at Assumption on October 2, 9, 16 & 23, and October 30 & November 6 at Resurrection. Each session will feature a guest speaker. Please join us for as many as you can. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

This includes the School of Religion classes and CYO. Whenever the Fairport Central School District closes due to extreme weather, it is our policy to close as well. ALL meetings scheduled for tonight are also canceled or postponed.
Please be alert to any emails asking for help that appear to be from parish staff. We will always use our official @dor.org email addresses, so anything you get from gmail, yahoo, etc. should raise a red flag. Contact us by phone or at our official diocese email addresses if you have any questions.

NOW WHAT? The Reproductive Health Act which has passed in NY State is not about health care; it is about expanding abortion in the most radical way. It allows abortions up to the moment of birth and removes the protection for babies born alive during an abortion. As believers in the sanctity of ALL human life, we must do all we can to assist those in need, and help to transform our culture into one that respects and supports life at all stages. Check out the pro-life information in the link (click "Love Both" image) for some of the ways you can counteract the impact of this law and continue to fight for our preborn brothers and sisters. ~Deacon Ron
